Lifetime 60001 8-by-10-Foot Outdoor ... All too often, after living in the same place for a while, we find ourselves running out of storage space. Without going to the bank for a loan to expand your home, consider one or even two sheds for storage in your backyard. 

RTA Sheds

There are RTA (ready to assemble) metal sheds or wooden sheds kits that you can purchase online or at a local builder supply house. Anywhere you decide to purchase a shed, you will get a get deal of satisfaction constructing it. You can make it a family project, or (sometimes to save your sanity) do it by yourself.  Worst case, you can hire out the assembly of the shed, but I have found that putting one together is not that difficult and since I like working with wood, some of the cedar RTA kits are my personal favorites.

Shed Foundation

You will need to have a foundation prepared. Concrete works well to keep the shed solid and fairly clean. If the ground is uneven, you can raise the level of concrete high enough so that the building platform is flat and level. Some of the sheds are available with optional foundation kits like the one offered with the Del Mar Shed pictured at the top of this page. By building your shed on a solid foundation, your shed will last for many years, giving you a storage area outside your house.

If you are a gardener, you end up with a ton of outside tools that really have no place in the garage or house. An outside garden shed can be a perfect place to store such tools.

Riding Mower Storage

A riding mower is great when you have a large area to mow, but where do you keep them out of the weather? If you live in an area that has four seasons, you can enjoy all of them, but machinery needs to be protected from the elements, rain and sun. Sun and high heat can be extremely hard on rubber pieces or the seat of the mover. Machine hoses do not take kindly either to high summer heat or the freezing cold of the winter. One way or the other, this expensive equipment needs to be stored indoors when not in use.

If you spend your time gardening, then you have bags of mulch and soil that you are working with to make the correct mixture for potting plants. You need space for working in your greenhouse or vegetable garden. You have seedlings that you need a place to have them take hold and root before placing the plants outside in the ground. Even here, you have tools and you need space to work. If you have a greenhouse, then adding a shed for storage at one end can be an ideal solution as you do not want to lose space storing tools.

Unless you live on a farm and have access to a large barn, you really do need a dedicated place to keep these tools that you use, sometimes on a seasonal basis, sometimes on a daily bases.

Look at using sheds for storage to help solve your problem. They can fit almost anywhere and they work wonderfully to keep your tools organized and out of the weather.
